1. What is Radarami?
Radarami is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the most important English-language non-fiction books to a Georgian audience, and to connecting curious Georgians with one another. We are like a national book club: we publish new books that are topical, important, and in high-quality translation and sell them at an affordable price in bookstores throughout the country or distribute them for free in libraries and other public spaces. Some will love the arguments in the books, some will hate them. That’s okay with us. Our dream is for thousands of Georgians to read the same book at the same time, debating the issues and listening to each other.

The word 'Radarami' is an invented noun made from two words used in the Georgian mountain dialects. It roughly translates to “what and how” or “what and why,” depending on which mountain you’re on. Either way, it sums up our mission: we want to introduce Georgians to what’s going on in the rest of the world, how people are talking about it, and why Georgians need to join the conversation.

By translating these books into the Georgian language, Georgians can get off the sidelines and join in the debates that are shaping our era.

5. How does Radarami decide which books to publish?
Our independent committee selects books on the basis of contemporaneity, global importance and approachability for laymen. The committee is made up of international authors, journalists, International Relations experts, as well as professional booksellers and publishing house executives. When you get your first Radarami book, you will see a 5-digit text message code inside. Just send us an SMS with your name and your village or town, and we will alert you to Radarami events, news, and ask for your feedback on what you have been reading. 12. By selling books inexpensively, isn’t Radarami undercutting other local publishers?
No. We are introducing a new product that is not offered by other publishers: high quality translations of contemporary English-language non-fiction books, which, sadly, do not exist on the market today. In fact, by selling our books at affordable prices, we expect to promote reading and book-buying on a large scale: an effect that will only help other publishers as well as local bookstores.
